CKEditor has been updated

CKEditor has been upgraded and a new Content Creator profile has been created to support the new role. CKEditor is the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor used by Drupal Content Creators when editing or creating new content.

The new CKEditor profile features less tools.

Why this change?

Editing tools have evolved to support a number of features available to modern websites. We upgraded CKEditor in order to take advantage of some of it’s new features. These are only a few:

  • Mobile support - The new CKEditor supports mobile devices which means that you can create and edit content on your websites from a mobile device (phone or tablet).
  • Templates - The new CKEditor supports templates. Templates allow the web services team to create pre-defined layouts for creating complex content layouts.

This feature is available to sites that have migrated to the 2019 skin (theme).
  • Styles - Styles allow the web services team to create pre-defined styles for your content such as buttons, links, boxes etc.

This feature is available to sites that have migrated to the 2019 skin (theme).

Does this affect you?

The new CKEditor will be activated on every CWU website/container. The most significant change is the difference in the number of editing tools. We have removed deprecated, and non-supported tools from the editors.

Why are editing tools not showing up?
