Spring 2021 Classes
The following lists show classes that have been converted to online due to COVID-19 and can satisfy the in-resident course requirement for the full Chapter 33 and Chapter 31 monthly housing allowance. This list is being updated as we receive new information from various academic units. Please check back if you do not see your academic program or course. Courses that are crosslisted between multiple locations will be reported based on the student's service campus. Last updated April 1, 2021 at 1040.
The following information has implications for students who are utilizing Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) and Chapter 31 (VR&E) VA Education Benefits. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, new legislation has allowed a temporary change in what classes can be reported as “In-Resident”.
For full-time, Post 9/11 GI Bill® and Chapter 31 (VR&E) students must be enrolled in at least one credit hour for the full term that is taught “In-Resident” in order to receive their full monthly housing allowance (MHA). The MHA rate is based on the campus that a student is taking the majority of their "In-Resident" credit hours.
H. R. 8337 was recently signed into law on 9/30/2020. This extends Senate Bill 3503, that benefits students utilizing VA Education Benefits during the pandemic through December 21, 2021. Specifically, this allows universities to report courses as in-person if they were converted to online due to COVID-19.
