Michael Middleton, Student Engagement Coordinator

Michael hails from the east coast. Born in the Bronx, NY, he has subsequently made significant ties to New Jersey, Maryland, South Carolina, and Virginia. Michael graduated from John Randolph Tucker High School in Richmond, Virginia in 2012 and went on to attend the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. While in undergrad at Mary Washington, Michael became involved with the department of Campus Recreation for two years as a Student Administrator and served as a Student Organization President for two years. After graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and two minors in Biology & Neuroscience Michael continued his tenure at UMW pursuing a Master’s of Education. During the completion of his two year Master’s program he also served as a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Student Activities and Engagement. Graduating in May of 2018, Michael begins his professional career at Central Washington University as the Coordinator for Student Engagement, September of 2018.

Michael’s primary role will be to provide holistic support for student organizations, including but not limited to, leadership trainings, professional development opportunities, budget and finance support, travel support, recruiting efforts, transition processes, and increasing overall student engagement.

As a young professional Michael has attended both the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) National Conferences. He is eager to continue his professional development in the field of Student Affairs and aspires to become a regular presenter.

Michael has a keen interest in the areas of mental health and wellness and hopes to be a driving force in helping to destigmatize perceptions surrounding mental illness.

As a newcomer to the west coast and a lover of nature Michael is excited to get out and explore everything Ellensburg and the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
