Sport Clubs Council

CWU Collegiate Sport Clubs is first and foremost a student organization, so elected student leadership is integral to the success and development of the group. The elected student leaders will be trusted and empowered to make decisions that impact not only their individual organizations, but also Collegiate Sport Clubs as a whole. These individuals fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between the sport clubs and the Sport Club Staff
  • Make recommendations for annual funding to each of the eligible sport clubs
  • Make recommendations for supplemental funding as requested
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings and make recommendations for disciplinary actions based on those hearings
  • Represent SCC at Monthly Sport Club Council meetings
  • Provide input for the development and implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the Sport Club Staff

Meet the Committee

Karley Bentler

Karley is from Bothell, Washington and is in her second year at CWU. Her major is Business and Marketing Management. She is a member of the CWU Women’s Soccer Club. Karley comes from a great family with two loving parents Jack and Janette and has a younger sister, Kendal, and an adorable dog named Bindi. Karley spends most of her free time working out, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Karley has enjoyed living in Ellensburg and attending at CWU.

Darcie Haegele

Darcie is from Graham, Washington. She is a Junior, and a Family and Consumer Science Education (FCSE) major at CWU. She works on campus in the Financial Aid office. She has been the Women’s Lacrosse club president for the last three years. She has coached multiple youth Basketball and Lacrosse teams and has directed multiple Lacrosse camps in the summers. She loves participating in anything related to athletics and enjoys spending time with her team, friends, and family.

Ethan Olson

Ethan is from Tacoma, Washington and is in his third year here at CWU. He majors in Sport Management with a specialization in Sport Business and is pursuing a minor in Coaching. He is currently the Men’s Lacrosse Club President. Ethan became the president of the Men’s Lacrosse Club as a freshman and has helped rebuild the program to where it is today. After playing lacrosse for many years and having a successful high school career, Ethan decided to move to Ellensburg and attend CWU. He loves playing and coaching the sport of lacrosse. He also enjoys time outdoors, fly fishing and spending time with friends and family. When Ethan is not working as an SCC member or in class, you can find him at the Recreation Sports Complex practicing for lacrosse. Ethan loves living in Ellensburg and pursuing his career at CWU.

Madison Sturgeon

Madi is a senior majoring in Business Administration, specializing in both Human Resources and Leadership Management. She has been a member of the CWU Equestrian Team for three years, and currently holds the leadership position of Secretary for the sport club. In her free time from competing at horse shows, she also enjoys riding her horse, Sunny, and playing basketball. Equestrian being offered as a CWU sport club has definitely impacted her college experience for the better, and she is very thankful for all of the growth opportunities it has offered her.
