Prominent Water Protection Advocate and Scholar to Visit CWU

Native American water protection activist Kelsey Leonard will speak on the role of Native Kelsey Leonardwomen in the protection, maintenance, and restoration of America's waters on April 11 at Central Washington University.

A public reception will be held in the Dean Hall lobby at 5 p.m., followed by a lecture at 6 p.m.

Please join us as Kelsey Leonard, the Tibal Co-Lead of the Shinnecock Indian Nation on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body of the US National Ocean Council, advocates for the protection of Indigenous waters.  Ms. Leonard will examine the role of indigenous women in settler-conlonial states in defending their Nation's waters for future generations and their fight to create new institutions for transboundary water governance informed by indigenous ways of knowing.
