Savannah's Research

Thermal Landscape of the Microhabitat Characteristics of Woody Debris and Bare Ground

Field Site Set Up-Calandria: Upland & Arroyo

Research Focus: The Affect of Hurricane Patricia on the Distribution of Microhabitats

Research Focus: Why has the lizard species distribution changed after Hurricane Patricia?

Prediction: The lizards previously found in the upland prefer direct sunlight, whereas the lizards previously found in the arroyo prefer shade. The hurricane broke open the canopy of the forest, increasing the amount of woody debris found below. The open canopy in the arroyo provides direct sunlight, and the woody debris in the upland provides shade, resulting in a homogenizing effect of the microhabitats for the different lizard species.

Methods: Microhabitat Characteristics of Woody Debris and Bare Ground

Results: Woody Debris Characteristics Compared in Upland & Arroyo
