Acclaimed author, world-class mountaineer, and Everest summiteer
On May 26, 2012, Dr. Jon Kedrowski summitted Mount Everest after having to turn around only 800 feet from the summit because of a terrible storm six days prior. The storm was the second deadliest in Everest history claiming seven lives in one night. Jon will take the audience through his 2012 expedition to Nepal. He will also explain how the mountaineering he did for his book, Sleeping on the Summits: Colorado Fourteener High Bivys, was one of the many ways he prepared mentally and physically for his climb of the highest mountain on earth. Jon has climbed Mt. Rainier more than a dozen times and will highlight his experience camping in the Summit Crater of Mount Rainier. He will also discuss his research in mountains including at Mount Rainier National Park, Denali in Alaska, the Colorado 14ers, and recently with water quality on Mount Everest. After the presentation he will be on-hand to sign copies of his book.
