Central Washington University's Theatre Ensemble performs this musical classic, based on the MGM film, The Sobbin' Women, by Stephen Vincent Benet.

Set in 1850 Oregon, a young couple, Milly and Adam, marry and live with Adam's six brothers. Adam's brothers meet six women and decide they too want to marry. But the girls are reluctant to marry, so the brothers cleverly decide to kidnap them. What happens after that is for the audience to discover!

This musical is based on the book by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay. Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics, music is by Gene de Paul, and new songs are by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was originally directed for Broadway by Lawrence Kasha, and originally produced on Broadway by Kaslan Productions, Inc.
