The Science Education Department offers the Science Education K-8 Minor designed especially for elementary educators.
This minor is open to students in any education major, as well as to other students as appropriate. This minor is not endorsable but will prepare you to be a science leader in the schools, which is in high demand in Washington state and nationally. In addition, students who have another certification (such as elementary education) and take the WEST-E/NES in Middle Level Science and pass can add an endorsement in Middle Level Science.
*This minor is only 17-18 additional credits for CWU elementary education majors. ELEM342 is a required major course and the SCED 101-103 courses are general education courses for the elementary education major (or may be able to be substituted from your science generals). Talk to an advisor about this minor today.
“The Science Education Department at CWU is top notch – CWU science teacher candidates leave the university well prepared to deliver high quality instruction right out of the gate.“
John Graf, former principal, Lincoln Elementary School, Ellensburg
