STEMCATS Kids!

STEMCats Kids! are half-day weekly summer camps designed for ages 6-10. Camps are offered in the morning and afternoon, occur Monday through Friday, and will be offered from June 24  to August 9, 2019.

Explore the natural world including insects, soil, and fish to learn basics of biology and chemistry. We will make fun science related crafts and lots of slime to answer the questions “Why are fish so slimy?”, “How does fermentation and rot work?” and many more!

Age group: 1st and 2nd grade

Each Camper will Explore:

  • Slimy Fish
  • Bees and Flowers
  • Worms, Beetles and Rot
  • Spiders, Scorpions, and Snakes
  • Sticky, Slimy, and Slippery Slime!

Get hands on with science in our geology camp! We will get up close and personal with rocks, minerals, and geological processes using samples, models, and experiments. Bring home minerals that you grow in camp and erupt volcanoes!

Age Group: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade

Each Camper will Explore:

  • Rocks and Minerals
  • Volcanoes
  • Earthquakes

Explore our solar system! We will look at planets, stars, meteors and space junk, all leading up to a Mission to Mars! Kids will make models, read books, play games and design a habitat biome!

Age Group: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade

     Each Camper will Explore:

  • Suns, Stars, and Black Holes
  • Our Solar System
  • The Moon
  • Meteors, Comets, and Space Junk
  • Mission to Mars!

Offered:

August 5 - 9, 20199:00 am - 12:00 pm

Learn about the gross sides of biology, environmental science, and chemistry! We will take a trip down the digestive system, get up close to stinky food, and make lots of different kinds of slime! This camp uses stories, crafts, and models to make science fun!

Age Group: 3rd and 4th grade

Each camper will Explore:

  • ·         How noses detect the chemistry of objects around us
  • ·         Why fish are slimy
  • ·         How the digestive system works
  • ·         Why/how food decomposes
  • ·         How chemistry can change the physical properties of objects
