Q: Can we use our own belayers?
A: Because safety is our highest priority, we cannot allow you to bring your own belayers to most challenge course programs. By using only our own staff, we can ensure every belayer is competent and meets all our safety standards.
Q: Can we bring our own gear?
A: We do not allow outside gear on the course. Our gear at the course is meticulously checked and maintained. We do this to ensure the safety of all our participants. By using only this gear, we are aware of the exact quality and condition of every harness and helmet on the course.
Q: How much would it cost for me and X number of my friends to use the challenge course?
A: All of our pricing options are available on the sidebar menu on the left. Prices vary depending on whether the group is composed of Central students, faculty or staff, or an outside group, as well as the number of participants in your group.
Q: I’m not a minor; do I still need to sign a waiver?
A: Yes. Everyone who uses the challenge course must sign a waiver. Even the skilled and knowledgeable facilitators have signed them. The waiver form can be found on the page in the sidebar labeled “forms,” or you can send an e-mail to Challenge@cwu.edu and we’ll send it to you.
Q: Do I need to be an athlete to use the challenge course?
A: Nope! The challenge course is much more of a mental challenge than a physical one. Most people can do everything on the challenge course if they put their minds to it.
Q: When is the Challenge Course Open?
A: Availability varies depending on the number of programs we have scheduled during the timeframe you’re requesting. We usually ask that you send us a couple prioritized dates you would like for your program and we try to work with you to schedule the best possible time for your group. Our high course is closed in the winter, but we still do low programs all year around.
