Winter 2021 Updates

Changes occuring in Winter 2021

  • In accordance with Healthy Washington guidelines, CWU Recreation has updated our access and capacity requirements
    • Phase 1: Reservations required for access to the facility.  All users must be provided with at least 500 square feet of space in activity areas and limited to 45 minute workouts.
    • Phase 2: Reservations will no longer be required and occupancy will not exceed 25 percent of the capacity limits (fall 2019 occupancy).  
  • All users of Recreation facilities will be required to: 
    • Complete the daily CWU health check
    • Wear a facial covering at all times when in the facility
    • Clean equipment before and after usage
  • Membership/Access limited to Students, Faculty, & Staff
    • RecWell membership will not be offered while the facility is operating at reduced capacity in order to avoid impacting student use
    • Spouse/Partner, Dependent, Alumni membership and Guest passes anticipated to resume in July 2021
    • No family hours during the fall, winter, and spring quarters
    • No guest passes
  • Water stations are limited to bottle filling only; users of the facility should bring their own bottle
  • Spotting is not permitted; lift weights accordingly and ask staff for assistance
  • No group/partner lifting regardless of housing situation; only one person per machine/zone
  • Indoor track will be closed to accomodate equipment spacing
  • Equipment checkout from the membership desk is only providing basketballs, pickleball, table tennis, and badminton equipment
  • Locker service suspended until further notice, changing can occur in locker room while physically distancing
  • Showers are not available; arrive at the facility in your workout attire and bring minimal possessions
  • Gym courts will be utilized as follows:
    • Court A: individual basketball workouts, pickleball, table tennis, and badminton
    • Court B: individual basketball workouts/functional movements
    • Court C: individual basketball workouts/functional movements
    • Court D: cardio equipment
  • Cardio and strength equipment will be spaced for physical distancing throughout the facility
  • The climbing wall is open for bouldering, no ropes or harnesses will be used
    • No street shoes on the wall.  Rental shoes will be provided free of charge
    • No youth climb or family hours

      • Closed for winter; anticipated to reopen in early March

    • Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals
      • Gear Rental currently available
      • Trip Program operating with limits on capacity and no transportation
    • Climbing Wall
      • Currently open and reservations required; no street shoes permitted.  Phase 1: bouldering only; Phase 2: limited rope availability
    • Group Fitness
      • Currently operating: Virtual classes only in Phase 1
    • Sport Clubs
      • Currently operating with travel and competition limitations
    • Intramural Sports & Special Events
      • Currently operating with activity and team size limitations
    • Personal Training
      • Currently available
    • Challenge Course
      • Anticipated to reopen in Spring 2021
