Community Youth Climbing Programs

*Youth Climbing Hours have ended for the Summer of 2021. They will begin as noted below.
Youth Climbing Hours (YCH)
Cost: $7 for children
Youth Climbing Hours is an open time for kids to come explore the wall and climb. Staff can provide equipment and belaying and parents are encouraged to climb as well. Youth Climbing Hours coincide with Family Hours in the facility. Staff will belay the children, unless parents have passed the CWU Climbing Wall belay Test. Parents must be present while their children climb. Please visit the Family Policy & Family Hours section of our website for information on age requirements and expectation during Family Hours within the Recreation Center. Youth Climbing Hours will start on September 25, 2021 and will end on December 5, 2021 for Fall Quarter. They will begin again during the Winter Quarter. The climbing wall is closed Saturday, November 27, 2021.
Kids Climb High Program (KCHP)
Cost: $85 for children
*Due to current COVID requirements on campus and with sensitive populations, the Kids Climbing High Program will not be offered during the 2021 Fall Quarter. We will re-evaluate future options as we move closer to the Winter Quarter. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
Kids Climb High Program is an 8-week progressive program that teaches climbing technique, proper equipment use, problem solving, trust, teamwork, strength, endurance, and so much more! Signups for this class occur at the start of the quarter. Signups for for the Fall Quarter 2021 will end on October 1 at 4pm. Maximum group size will be 10 people. Once we reach our maximum group size, we'll no longer be accepting registrations. Please note that this is an 8-week program and program registrations will reflect the 8 week commitment. If you are looking for the occasional day to climb with your children, please consider the Youth Climbing Hours as listed above.
