It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our chair, Dr. Stephanie Stein, passed away recently. Her passing was unanticipated and therefore very impactful for the psychology department. She began working at Central Washington University in 1995 and was the chair of the department for over 20 years. She had a significant impact on its development through the years and was a respected and valuable mentor to many. She will be missed. Students can contact the counseling center on campus if they find that they need additional support at this time, https://www.cwu.edu/medical-counseling/counseling-clinic. Student Counseling is now in Black Hall 225-30 and has urgent appointments available daily from 11-4:30. Their phone number is 509-963-1391. There is also telehealth support available for students 24/7 via a partnership with TimelyCare. Students can download the TimelyCare app and register with their CWU single sign-on to get live support 24/7. Employees can contact our Employee Assistance Program at https://www.cwu.edu/hr/employee-assistance-program. For those interested in attending a memorial service, details will be posted when we know more. A service will likely be held in Spring 2023. We will get through this difficult time together.
