I. Information Items
1. CWU Event Summary - January 2012
The CWU Event Summary is now available on the University Calendar at: http://www.cwu.edu/calendar. Jim also reminded folks to review Central Today. It has a new look that coincides with the new web page.
II. Action Items
1. Approval of UPAC Minutes from November 2, 2011 (no meeting in December)
Motion to approve the UPAC Minutes from November 2, 2011 as presented by Sherer Holter. Seconded by Kirk Johnson. No further discussion. Motion carried.
III. University Policies to Recommend for Approval
1. CWUP 2-60(2) Athletic Compliance Committee - Sherer Holter
The changes to the Athletic Compliance Committee include adding one ex-officio position: senior woman administrator and clarifying terms of membership to make them in line with NCAA terminology. UPAC members endorsed the changes to the Athletic Compliance Committee.
2. CWUP 2-60(5) Equal Opportunity Committee - Sherer Holter
The Equal Opportunity Committee now reports to the chief of staff, so that change was made to the policy. UPAC members endorsed the changes to the Equal Opportunity Committee.
3. CWUP 2-60(8) Naming Committee - Sherer Holter
The Naming Committee now reports to the chief of staff, so that change was made to the policy along with some minor changes in language. UPAC members endorsed the changes to the Naming Committee.
IV. University Procedures Reviewed
1. CWUR 3-40-380 Facilities Use Procedure - Sherer Holter
Sherer explained that the changes to this procedure include suggestions from all across campus. Jim Huckabay suggested changing the language regarding the application for liquor/banquet permits. Since Washington state liquor stores will be closing soon, the procedure needs to clarify how permits will be obtained now. UPAC members endorsed the changes to the Facilities Use Procedure with this one modification.
V. Departmental Policies/Procedures Reviewed
No departmental policies/procedures to review at this time.
For the Good of the Order:
The proposed tuition waiver program for eligible staff dependents is still in the works. A survey will be available online beginning January 9, 2012. The information from the survey will be used to provide an estimate of use and financial impact to the Board of Trustees. Please watch Central Today for the announcement of the survey.
John Swiney reported that we have a record number of transfers for winter quarter. Enrollment is looking good.
Jack Bishop reminded folks that the CWU men's basketball team plays here this Saturday, January 7, and the women's team plays at Northwest Nazarene.
