  1. Information Items

    1. CWU Event Summary - August 2011
      Sandy Colson summarized the August event calendar. The 2nd Annual Community Day is August 20 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Tomlinson Stadium. There are several activities planned for the day including the Kittitas County Football Roundup, a Kid Zone (arts & crafts), chili feed, and music by the Dave Rawlinson Band. The second event this month is the African Children's Choir from Uganda. This concert is August 28 at 7:00 PM at the Jerilyn S. McIntyre Music Building.
  2. Action Items

    1. Approval of PAC Minutes from May 4, 2011; June & July meetings were canceled. Motion to approve the PAC Minutes from May 4, 2011 as presented by Sherer Holter. Seconded by Wendy Bohrson. No further discussion. Motion carried with one abstention.
  3. University Policies to Recommend for Approval

    1. CWUP 2-10-020 Chain of Command - Sherer Holter
      The Chain of Command Policy was revised to align the policy with recent organizational changes. UPAC members endorsed the changes to CWUP 2-10-020.
    2. CWUP 2-10-080 Honorary Naming of Buildings & Other Major Memorials - Sherer Holter
      Procedures were taken out of the policy and are now found in CWUR 1-60-040/Honorary Naming of Buildings and Other Major Memorials Procedure. In addition, the name of the committee was changed to the Naming Priorities Committee and there were some minor edits to the section regarding donations. UPAC members endorsed the changes to CWUP 2-10-080 & CWUR 1-60-040.
    3. CWUP 2-50-110 CWU Website - Sherer Holter
      CWUP 2-50-110 CWU Website is a new policy that was drafted to clarify our website. Project managers and content editors will work closely with the Web office so that commonality and consistency is apparent. UPAC members endorsed CWUP 2-50-110 with one edit.
    4. CWUP 2-20-060 Honorary Degree - Sherer Holter
      CWUP 2-20-060 refers to RCW28B.35.205, so language was adjusted to align with the RCW. UPAC members endorsed CWUP 2-20-060.
    5. CWUP 2-20-090 Waiver of Tuition and Fees - Sherer Holter
      CWUP 2-20-090 Waiver of Tuition and Fees was revised to include the link for the new procedure to go along with this policy. UPAC members endorsed CWUP 2-20-090.
    6. CWUP 2-60 University Committees, Councils, Task Forces and Teams - Sherer Holter
      CWUP 2-60 University Committees, Councils, Task Forces and Teams clarifies the university standing committees. The new policy differentiates the current groups that allow for faculty, student, and staff participation in university affairs - university committees, councils, task forces, and adds the definition of teams. In addition, the policy identifies who provides administrative oversight to each group.

      It also identifies university standing committees that are established by policy. All other groups will fall under the jurisdiction of that appropriate division, department of college. UPAC members endorsed CWUP 2-60 with one minor edit.
  4. University Procedures Reviewed

    1. CWUR 1-60-110 Website Procedure - Sherer Holter
      CWUR 1-60-110 is a new procedure to accompany the Website Policy. UPAC members endorsed CWUR 1-60-110 with minor revisions.
    2. CWUR 1-60-020 Procedures, Criteria, and Nomination Forms for the Award of Honorary Degrees - Sherer Holter
      CWUR 1-60-020 was revised to clarify the process and make it easier to follow. The procedure now references the Honorary Degree Policy. In addition, the timeline has been adjusted, a requirement for letters of recommendation has been added, the requirement for a secret BOT ballot has been eliminated, and the nomination form has been reformatted. UPAC members endorsed CWUR 1-60-020.
    3. CWUR 1-60-120 University Committees, Councils, Task Forces and Teams - Sherer Holter
      CWUR 1-60-120 defines the process by which members are assigned to committees, councils, task forces and teams. In addition, a major change to this procedure is the responsibility to contact the employee council (classified staff), exempt employee association (exempt staff), faculty senate (faculty) and ASCWU BOD (students) to solicit recommendations to fill open positions on committees that report to their areas is shifted to the division heads. UPAC members endorsed CWUR 1-60-120.
    4. CWUR 1-60-005 Assistant Attorney General - Sherer Holter
      CWUR 1-60-005 provides information regarding how to request assistant attorney general legal assistance and who is responsible for coordinating requests. UPAC members endorsed CWUR 1-60-005.
