Jim announced that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has reaffirmed us. He congratulated everyone for their efforts in this process.

  1. Action Items

    1. Approval of PAC Minutes from January 6, 2010
      Motion to approve the PAC Minutes from January 6, 2010 as presented by Roy Savoian. Seconded by Matt Cziske. No further discussion. Motion carried.

  2. Policies to Recommend for Approval

    1. Purchasing Card Policy - Bill Vertrees
      Bill Vertrees reminded the group that this policy has been seen before. Basically, the only changes include tightening of the language and removal of procedures. The core of the policy has not changed. Motion to recommend to the president for approval by Charlotte Tullos. Seconded by Sherer Holter. No further discussion. Motion carried. Presidential approval February 3, 2010.
    2. Guidelines and Policies for Campus Video Streaming - David Kaufman
      David Kaufman explained that this policy was developed to answer many of the questions that have come up since we started using video streaming for campus events. The purpose of the policy is to define the parameters for use of the video class capture service available at Central Washington University so that all individuals making use of this service have a clear understanding of the rules that govern its use. Provost's Council has reviewed the policy and procedures as well. The group agreed that there needs to be some additional clarification on some of the issues dealing with classroom versus outside of the classroom events. David Kaufman will provide to Sherer Holter revisions to the policies and procedures. In addition, the document will be shared with the Intellectual Properties Committee to discuss the issues with ownership and access. This will come back to PAC at a later date.

  3. Procedures Reviewed

    1. Exempt Code Procedures Addressing Professional Leave - Sherer Holter & Matt Cziske
      Sherer Holter reminded the group that this procedure was reviewed at the January meeting. One of the issues that came up last time dealt with the section on professional absence. She explained that this information came directly from the RCW and that this policy is very similar to how sabbatical leave is handled for faculty. It was recommended that the title be changed to "Professional Leave." Motion to recommend to the president for approval with the change in name by Roy Savoian. Seconded by Libby Street. No further discussion. Motion carried. Presidential approval February 3, 2010.

Other Announcements & Information Items:

  • Donna Kramer distributed information on Central E.A.T.S. - which stands for "Enabling All To Succeed." This group is open to all CWU employees. It is sponsored by Employee Assistance and Human Resources Work/Life programs with support from the Exempt Employee Association Work/Life Committee and Dining Services. Monthly lunches are held for co-workers to connect, have fun, and learn from each other. If you have an idea for a topic to be discussed at one of the upcoming lunches, please contact Donna Kramer at eap@cwu.edu.
  • Libby Street reminded the group that the next Performing Arts and Presidential Speakers Series event "The Woman's Voice in Music" is this Sunday at 4:00 PM in the Music Building Concert Hall.
  • Libby also reported that one of Roger Fouts' former students, Crickette Sanz, is featured in a seven-page article in the February 2010 issue of National Geographic. The article is on Congo Chimps.
  • The Daily Bulletin will roll out February 15. We will try it for two weeks to see how it works. The *.cwu access will be limited for critical messages only. The Daily Bulletins will be archived for two to three weeks.
  • Charlotte Tullos reported that the Majors Fair is today in the SURC from 12:00-3:00 PM. Please stop by if you have a chance.
  • Dr. Gaudino complimented Dining Services on the reopening of Wellington's. He also reminded the group that the men and women's basketball teams play at home tomorrow night beginning at 5:15 PM against Seattle Pacific University.
  • The Welcome Center opens March 1. One of the main purposes of the Welcome Center is to create a one-stop shop for students. Tickets for campus and community events will also be for sale at this location. Another goal of the center is to join the university and the community. Bill Vertrees reminded folks that this project is running through capital money and housing and dining funds. No general operating money is being used for this project. A grand opening is being planned for April 22.
