- Legislative Session Process - Linda Schactler
Linda Schactler gave a summary of what's been happening in Olympia. Senator Rodney Tom has been appointed as the chair of the Senate Higher Ed Committee. The House Higher Ed Committee chair has not been identified yet. The next legislative session starts January 10 and goes 105 days. Linda asked that if anyone gets a call from legislative staff requesting information about CWU, please send the call to Linda. She will be coordinating the responses to legislative staff. The bill tracking web site will be up and running soon on the Government Relations web site. Linda will also provide weekly legislative updates throughout the session.

- CWUR 2-10-030 Requesting Establishment of or Alteration to Academic Fees - Wayne Quirk
Wayne Quirk explained that the changes to this procedure basically formalize the appropriate approving bodies and also fulfills I-960 requirements. John Swiney added that he is currently doing an analysis of our fees and that report will be available soon. PAC members reviewed and endorsed the procedure effective December 1, 2010.

Other Announcements:
Jim introduced Forrest Rodgers. He is the new CEO for the CWU Foundation. Forrest brings a wealth of experience to the foundation having served as president and CEO for a nationally recognized private museum, the High Desert Museum in Bend, OR, as well as experience working at Oregon State University in university advancement and constituent relations. Welcome Forrest!
Connie Lambert reported that our Army ROTC took 1st and 2nd in a recent regional cadet challenge.
Bob Hickey reported that through donations, the UFC has established a Financial Assistance Fund to help faculty, staff, and exempt employees deal with financial hardship caused by a mandated reduction in hours. To apply for assistance, please go to: http://www.ufcentral.org/UFC_FAF.pdf.
Richard DeShields reported that Discover Orientation for winter quarter is next week. Approximately 90 students will attend.
Tracy Terrell reported that we have 50 new freshmen and 380 new transfers coming in winter quarter. In addition, many courses currently have huge wait lists, so she asked that folks please take a look at class section reports prior to going on vacation, so we're ready for winter quarter.
Jim reported that on November 5, CWU Board of Trustees approved a $34.5 million, 30-year bond sale. Proceeds from the bond sale will be used to replace Barto Hall. Demolition of Barto Hall will begin December 10, with the new hall ready for occupancy in time for fall quarter 2012.
