Wayne Quirk introduced and welcomed Patricia Cutright, the new Dean of Library Services.

  1. Staci Sleigh-Layman regarding CWU's Affirmative Action Plan

    Staci Sleigh-Layman summarized the 10 Year Summary of Affirmative Action Progress - Fall 2009 compared to Fall 2000. This information is available for review on the Office for Equal Opportunity web page.

    Staci thanked Bobbi Broderius and HR staff for all of their assistance with this report.

  2. Action Items

    1. Approval of PAC Minutes from March 3, 2010
      Motion to approve the PAC Minutes from March 3, 2010 as presented by Wayne Quirk. Seconded by Sherer Holter. No further discussion. Motion carried.

  4. University Procedures Reviewed

    Nothing to review at this time.

  5. Departmental Policies/Procedures Reviewed

    1. University Housing and Center for Disability Services Policy and Procedures on Service Animals in University Housing - Rob Harden, Pam Wilson, Richard DeShields, & Staci Sleigh-Layman
      Staci Sleigh-Layman explained that this policy was drafted due to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) compliance guidelines. The policy states that requests for special housing accommodations due to a disability and the need for a service animal are carefully evaluated by the housing staff once the Center for Disability Services has all of the documentation needed regarding the disability. CDS will notify University Housing once all of the supporting documentation is provided. University Housing makes the formal decision regarding service animals in university housing and notifies the individual requesting the accommodation. Motion to endorse the policy in concept by Roy Savoian. Seconded by Bill Vertrees. The policy statement may be revised slightly. No further discussion. Motion carried. Presidential approval April 7, 2010.
    2. Threat Assessment Response Policy and Procedures - Jack Baker
      Jack Baker mentioned that PAC members have previously reviewed the Threat Assessment Response Policy and Procedures. He added that the major changes to the document are that University Centers are now included. Motion to endorse the policy and procedures by Sherer Holter. Seconded by Charlotte Tullos. No further discussion. Motion carried. Presidential approval April 7, 2010.

Libby Street distributed the CWU insert of the Daily Record Almanac.

John Swiney reported that the Welcome Center is up and running. Due to spring break season, there are many visits scheduled this week. Bill Vertrees reported that the digital sign for the Welcome Center has been approved and will be up soon. John added that spring enrollment numbers look good.

Wayne Quirk reported that the Athletic Department is sponsoring a blood drive today from 11:00-4:00.

Matt Cziske reported that the annual Admitted Student Open House - "Wildcat Day" is April 17.

President Gaudino reminded folks that the Grand Opening for the Welcome Center is April 22 at 4:00 PM. He also announced that the CWU Softball team is ranked nationally. With regard to news from Olympia, there is not much news yet. Tuesday is the last day of the special session. The best guess is that the legislature will do everything in their power to end on Tuesday. Our cuts could be anywhere from $1.5M - $7 or 8M.
