Athletic Compliance Committee

 

I. Welcome

 

Members present: Amelia Black, Miriam Bocchetti, Ethan Bergman, Scott Drummond, Kathy Gaer-Carlton, Dan Herman, Gary Hyatt, Pam McMullin-Messier, Tina Morefield, Rob Perkins, Bruce Porter, Staci Sleigh-Layman, Jeffrey Stinson, Riley Wall

 

II. Actions

 

1. Approve the procedures for the Subcommittee for hearings concerning cancelation of aid and refusal of release.

 

Minor revisions were made to the document. Motion to approve the document with revisions by Dan Herman. Seconded by Staci Sleigh-Layman. No further discussion. Motion carried.

Committee members suggested a report be given each fall quarter summarizing the number of cancelations and the outcomes of each case. Kim will put this in a tickler file to do each fall.

 

III. Items for Discussion

 

a. Review of athletic section in catalog

 

Motion to approve the athletic section in the catalog as presented by Rob Perkins. Seconded by Dan Herman. Jeff Stinson suggested not including the HED 205 class in the catalog document since it is not required. Committee members agreed. Motion carried.

 

b. Look at Participation Policy

 

Motion to approve the participation policy as presented by Rob Perkins. Seconded by Dan Herman. No further discussion. Motion carried.

 

c. Self Study

 

Gary reported that the NCAA requires a self study be conducted every five years. CWU’s self study for Athletics is coming up. Gary will be bringing the report to the committee for review.

 

d. Exit interviews

 

Tabled until next meeting

 

e. Title IX review

 

Gary indicated that the Title IX report will be reviewed by this committee as well.
