Schedule of Winter 2019 Trips

 

Weekly Ski Buses to Snoqualmie Pass

Ski lift

Tuesdays, January 8,15, 22, 29; February 5, 12, 19, 26; March 5

Depart OPR at 3:15 pm, return approximately 9:30 pm

$10 CWU students, $12 non-students

Take a nice mid-week break from the stress of classes and Join the OPR crew on these Tuesdays for a bus ride up to Snoqualmie Pass and have some fun skiing at night! Don't forget to pick up your discounted lift ticket at OPR before heading up to the Pass. Registration is required for this trip. The trip is rated as easy, intermediate or advanced based on the terrain you decide to ski/snowboard.

Wednesday, January 9

Depart OPR at 2pm, return approximately 5:30pm

Cost: $10 CWU students, $13 non-students

Come learn more about the annual Elk Feeding of thousands of PNW Elk as they migrate through the Oak Creek Wildlife area. Level of difficulty is beginner. Pre-registration is required.

 

Full Moon Ski & Snowshoeing

Sunday, January 20

Depart OPR at 4pm, return approximately 11pm

Cost: $15 CWU students, $20 non-students

Join OPR for a full moon adventure like no other. Snowshoe or xc ski the Plain Valley Nordic ski trails by the light of the full moon. Located near Leavenworth, WA, this adventure is close to home. Bonfire & S’mores included! Pre-trip meeting at 6pm on Thursday, January 17. Level of difficulty is beginner. Pre-registration required. 

 

Mission Ridge Ski Shuttle

Saturday, January 26

Meet at OPR at 7am, return approximately 7:30pm

Cost: $10 CWU students, $13 non-students

Join OPR for some of the best snow in the Cascade Mountains. Pre-trip meeting is at 6pm on Thursday, January 24. Level of difficulty is beginner-advanced, and all abilities welcome. Pre-registration required.

 

Hex Mountain Snowshoe

Sunday, January 27

Depart OPR at 10am, return approximately 6:00pm

Cost: $32 CWU students, $39 non-students

Snowshoe to the top of Hex Mountain via the Southwest ridge with astounding views of Cle Elum Lake and neighboring peaks. Pre-trip meeting is at 6pm on Thursday, January 24. Level of difficulty is intermediate. Pre-registration required.

 

Backcountry Skiing & Touring

Saturday, February 2

Depart OPR at 9:30am, return approximately 6pm

Cost: $35 CWU students, $43 non-students

Want to learn how to backcountry ski, set a skin track and enjoy fresh powder? Join OPR for a day of winter fun. Boots, skis, poles, avalanche beacon, probe & shovel all included in the price. Pre-trip meeting is at 6pm on Thursday, January 31. Level of difficulty is beginner to intermediate. Pre-registration required.

 

Snow Sledding

Saturday, February 9

Depart 10:00 am and return approximately 4:00 pm

$15 CWU students, $20 non-students

Join OPR for a favorite winter past-time, sledding on snow tubes! The cost of ice skating rentals are not included in the price. Advanced registration is required. Sign up at OPR. Pre-trip meeting at 6pm on Thursday, February 7. The difficulty rating for this trip is easy.

 

Ice Climbing

Sunday, February 10

Depart OPR at 10am, return approximately 3pm

Cost: $25 CWU students, $32 non-students

Want to learn how to ice climb? OPR will be spending the day at Umtanum Falls climbing vertical ice. Trip offering based on weather and ice conditions. Pre-trip meeting at 6pm on Thursday, February 7. Level of difficulty is beginner to intermediate. Pre-registration is required.

 

AIARE Avalanche Level 1 Course

Saturday, Sunday & Monday, February 16, 17 & 18

Cost: $325 CWU students, $395 non-students

Students can expect to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person. This course is for ANYONE, regardless of mode of travel, who ventures out into the mountains in the winter.
Level of difficulty is beginner to intermediate. Pre-registration is required.

 

Cascade Meadow Snowshoe

Depart OPR at 10am, return approximately 6pm

Cost: $32 CWU students, $39 non-students

Enjoy a day of snowshoeing in the eastern region of the Cascade Mountains. Pre-trip meeting is at 6pm on Thursday, February 28. Level of difficulty is beginner. Pre-registration required.
