Wildcats Earn Bronze at USA Rugby 7s Collegiate National Championship

The Central Washington University women's rugby team took home bronze medals at the 2017 USA Rugby 7s Collegiate National Championship after routing Dartmouth College, 31-0, Sunday evening.
The match was all Central Washington from start to finish. Senior Cassidy Meyers tallied two tries in the match, including the Wildcat's first score after breaking through Dartmouth's defense and into the try zone. Meyers (3-of-5) also accumulated six points through conversions to lead all Wildcats with a total of 16 points in the fixture.
Late in the first half, a Central Washington late hit resulted in a two minute, in-game suspension for the Wildcats. CWU didn't falter, however, and added to their lead when sophomore Yana Manoa found space a sprinted into the try zone.
The second half featured Central Washington extending their lead to 31-0, behind tries from Suiluana A'au, Meyers and Paige Wyatt.
The Wildcats held a 4-2 record throughout the weekend, defeating Texas A&M University, University of Michigan, United States Military Academy and Dartmouth. In the semifinals, Central Washington lost a hard fought game to eventual National Champions Lindenwood University.
Over the course of six matches, six different players posted points for the Wildcats, led by 45 from Meyers.
