Joseph Pearson is Named New Director of Auxiliary Operations at CWU

Joseph Pearson, former director of the Morris University Center at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, is the new director of Auxiliary Services at Central Washington University. He began the job on December 12, 2016.

Joel Klucking, CWU’s vice president of business and financial affairs, said Pearson brings an impressive background in both the private and public sectors to the position. At CWU, Pearson will oversee university dining and catering services, the Wildcat Printing shop, the Wildcat Shop bookstore, and conference programs.

“Joseph comes to us with more than 15 years of university experience,” Klucking said. “Most recently, he was responsible for a large and complex auxiliary organization including a financial portfolio of more than $30 million and a full-time staff of 200 professional, civil-service and represented employees, and more than 500 student employees and graduate assistants.”

During the past year, Pearson has served as vice president of operations at Sticky Wicket Specialties in Idaho, a private sales and marketing organization. Prior to his position at SIU-Edwardsville, Pearson worked as director of the university center at Louisiana State University Shreveport and as director of new student orientation at Idaho State University.

While at SIU-Edwardsville, Pearson was responsible for the operation and maintenance of two facilities with a combined footprint of more than 280,000 square-feet. He also supervised the auxiliary retail operations of a self-operated dining service, a self-operated bookstore, a textbook rental program, and campus vending and beverage contracts.

Pearson holds a master’s degree in public administration from Idaho State University and has a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Boise State University.
