CWU geologist continues lectures, starts new PBS video series

Central Washington University geologist Nick Zentner wasn’t born a geologist. In fact, like most people, it took him a while to figure out what he wanted to do.
After three years at the University of Wisconsin, he quit school and moved to Montana where he worked at Glacier National Park. It wasn’t until his first exposure to the West that the rocks started calling him. A quick trip back to Wisconsin finished his degree, and he eventually landed in Ellensburg.
After 25 years of teaching at CWU, Zentner has garnered a reputation as someone who brings geology into the public eye. Since 2010 Zentner has been giving public lectures on geology, bringing what can be a complicated, scientific subject to the masses, without dumbing it down.
