Campus Community can Donate Food Items to Help Those in Need

Members of the campus community have an opportunity next week to donate food items to those in need through a partnership between the CWU Equity and Services Council and the FISH food bank.

The food drive is planned Monday, November 17 through Sunday, November 23, when donation boxes will be conveniently located in the Student Union and Recreation Center east and west entrances, the SURC C-Store and the Student Government Office in SURC 256. Donation boxes also will be set up in the evenings from Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23 outside Grocery Outlet and Super 1 Foods.

“Foods ranging from canned fruits and vegetables, to granola bars and crackers will be graciously accepted,” said Olivia Durham, a student member of the Equity and Services Council. “It’s important for the community and for all of us to pitch in and help provide for those down on their luck.”

Appropriate food and toiletry items to donate include: canned fruit, canned vegetables, dried fruit, jams, jellies, pasta sauces, rice, quinoa, pasta and noodles, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, canned soup, mac n’ cheese, baby food, granola bars, crackers, beans and canned proteins, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and more.
