88.1 The 'Burg Named Best College Radio Station

At the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards in New York City over the weekend, KCWU-FM 88.1 The 'Burg took home awards for Best Show Promo (Tim Mitchell and Mikah Washburn), Best Celebrity Interview (Ziggy Marley by Timo Nakhisa), and Best College Radio Station with more than 10,000 students enrolled.
The IBS Golden Mic Awards honor excellence in programming, air personalities, public service efforts, and outstanding stations. The ‘Burg was a finalist for 10 IBS Golden Mic Awards.
IBS is the oldest student media advocacy organization in the country, providing resources, expertise and legal/lobby action for college radio/television programs. The Golden Mic Awards are bestowed during the annual national conference in New York City. This year, IBS saw four times the amount of entered material.
For the Best Radio Station category, The 'Burg was up against KKJZ at California State University in Long Beach, California, WERG at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, KBVR at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon (last year’s winner) and WNYU at New York University.
