Film "The Gypsy Vengerka" at CWU Museum of Culture & Environment, Monday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 pm
Dr. Timofeyev, Ph.D. Musicology, is a distinguished award-winning documentary filmmaker as well as master of the Russian Seven-String Guitar. In his newest film, Romani ("Gypsy") musicians take center stage as Dr. Timofeyev and his film crew document the importance of the Romani in Russian and Soviet culture. "The Gypsy Vengerka" (2022, 90 mins) will followed by a Q & A session with Dr. Timofeyev.
Dr. Timofeyev’s lecture/recital at 1:00 pm (Recital Hall) and film showing at 5:30 pm (Dean Hall) are co-sponsored by the CWU Provost’s office, the William O. Douglas Honors College, the CWU Music Department, the CWU Museum of Culture & the Environment, and the “Guitar in the Gallery” concert series at Gallery One.
