Interim Director of Career Services Announced

Katrina Whitney has been named the Interim Director of Career Services for Central Washington University. “I appreciate Katrina’s willingness to step into this role on short notice,” said Provost Michelle DenBeste. “I believe her experience in several different positions will allow her to expertly lead Career Services through this transitional time.”

Whitney has been with CWU since 1997, spending fifteen years in the Center for Student Empowerment and another ten years in her current role as the Assistant Director of the Diversity and Equity Center. In 2021, she was awarded the DEC Inclusive Legacy Award for her years of service and her commitment to diversity and inclusion.

When asked about the transition to career services, Whitney noted that she is “excited and honored to join the Career Services team.” She explained that the Career Services department “has a long-standing tradition of empowering and serving students here at Central in all aspects of career development, academic success, and employability. I am looking forward to seeing what the year has ahead and what ways we continue to build upon its rich history.”

Whitney has lived in Ellensburg since 1993 with her husband Jeff, and children Treyvn and Kiadyn who are both currently attending CWU. Please join us in congratulating her and welcoming her into this new role!
