CWU Celebrates Employees of the Year and Milestone Anniversaries
Central Washington University honored Carol Diefenbach and Andrew Corse as the 2022 Employees of the Year at the Employee Appreciation Awards ceremony May 24 in the SURC Theater.
Diefenbach, the classified staff winner, is a program coordinator for the Facilities Management Department; Corse, the exempt staff winner, is a residence hall coordinator with Housing and Residence Life. All 24 classified and exempt Employees of the Month were recognized before the two winners were announced.
Both winners were given a plaque and a monetary award of $2,500. Prior to the ceremony, they each received numerous nominations for their exemplary service over the past year. Their nominations indicated a high level of appreciation for the work they do at the university.
“Carol’s work ethic and commitment to CWU is second to none,” said Diefenbach’s supervisor, Tim Pollock. “Her kind nature and strong work ethic inspires others throughout our department to act in a compassionate manner.”
Corse’s co-worker Charles Courtney was equally generous in his praise.
“Andrew has consistently gone above and beyond what is expected of him with regards to his job and his residents,” said Courtney, a resident assistant. “He consistently makes the resident assistant job more fun and engaging with a special emphasis on building the relationships between University Housing and the residents within.”
President Jim Wohlpart and Executive Director of Human Resources Staci Sleigh-Layman co-hosted the event, which welcomed staff members from across the institution—many of whom have been at the university for a decade or more.
KCWU General Manager Tommy Skaggs served as the master of ceremonies, delivering some historical anecdotes about the year each of the five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, and 30-year employees started working at CWU.
Both the Exempt Employee Association and Classified Staff Employee Council are now seeking nominations for Employees of the Month for the 2022-23 academic year, which begins in July. Please submit your nominations online (Exempt; Classified).
