CWU Music Department Hosts WindFest

A performance in the Jerilyn S. McIntyre Music Building

Central Washington University is hosting the Pacific Northwest’s premier concert band festival, WindFest, today through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.

CWU hosts this festival every year, providing a stage to 30 of the best high school wind ensembles in a musically inclusive, non-competitive environment. Participating groups perform for a panel of adjudicators, who then provide feedback over the course of a 25-minute clinical session. Through this musical exchange, participants are able to reflect on their own performances, and those of their peers, to further their own musical development as part of a larger ensemble.

WindFest features performances by CWU’s large ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band 1, the latter of which took home first place at the 2015 Next Generation Festival.

Each group will take home recordings of their clinic, live performance, and audio comments from their adjudicator. More information about CWU WindFest can be found online
