About Percussion

Percussion at CWU offers you a well-rounded experience encompassing ensemble performance, solo opportunities, intensive career training, teaching, and research exposure.

You will develop a relaxed, fluid technique and hone your rigorous practice ethic, technical mastery, and musical voice. You will perform with CWU’s ensembles and enjoy a percussion studio defined by immersive study and weekly lessons that gives you the chance to engage with performance music in new and exciting ways.

Relevant coursework in CWU’s various degree programs range from foundational work in theory and history, to intensive specialized courses in percussion literature and pedagogy. Current and former percussion students perform with groups such as US armed service bands and the Oregon, Walla Walla, Spokane, Yakima, Wenatchee Valley, Mid-Columbia and Okanagon (BC) Symphony Orchestras.
