Horn ensemble in front of Golden Gate BridgeCentral Washington University Horn ensemble is made up of university students, regardless of major, interested in playing the horn. A permanent ensemble in the CWU Music Department since 1992, the CWUHE performs 1-2 full concert programs per year, featuring works for small and large ensembles of horns. The ensemble has been featured at international, regional and state conferences.  The ensemble also maintains an active outreach program, promoting the horn and its music in Washington's schools.


CWU Horn Ensemble performed at the 50th International Horn Symposium and competed in the Horn Ensemble Competition.  The ensemble placed Second.

The ensemble performed at the 2008 SOURCE as well as a number of other off campus performance venues.  The ensemble has also released two fund-raising CDs, in 2000-2001 and 2007-2008.

CWU’s Four Corners Horn Quartet placed Second in the IHS 50 Horn Quartet competition.  Sophie Mortensen, Ian Monahan, Evan Hagen, Sam Spicer.
