Ma​rina Christopher is rapidly gaining notoriety as a bassist, vocalist, educator and composer. After graduating from CWU, she toured the world playing in cruise ship bands. Once back in Seattle, she became a sought-after bassist for artists such as Eugenie Jones, Jacqueline Tabor and Ethiopian jazz musician Meklit Hadero. Marina was also a founding player for the popular jam “Mo’ Jam Mondays” at the Nectar Lounge. In addition to jazz, Marina also plays in rock and pop music groups Scarlet Parke, The Bad News Botanists, Maluhia, and her own neo-soul project: Marina and the Dreamboats. Marina has also performed on numerous occasions with the Seattle Rock Orchestra. She has performed on a growing number of albums, including two of her own. Her projects have been featured on the television show Band in Seattle, and on-air sessions on KNKX and KVRU. NPR described Marina as “a hip cat”. In addition to teaching her private bass studio, Marina currently teaches after-school music programs at Washington Middle School and Kamiak High School. Last year, she joined the faculty of Seattle JazzEd where she teaches workshops and jazz ensembles.

Kevin Proudfoot is a professional pianist based in the Seattle Metropolitan area. In 2005, he received an outstanding soloist award at the Essentially Ellington competition in New York. Kevin has also performed as the house pianist for Mo' Jam Mondays at the Nectar Lounge and is active in a number of musical genres throughout the region. He has been teaching elementary general music for four years in public schools, currently in the Renton School district. Kevin holds two Bachelor's Degrees, in Piano Performance and Music Education, from Central Washington University, where he studied with Dr. John Pickett. In 2012, he earned a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, where he studied with Dana Landry.


Frank Seeberger, guitarist, has been teaching and playing professionally for over 35 years. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, he also holds a bachelor's degree from Central Washington University in both Classical Guitar Performance, and Music Education. Frank has performed with jazz greats such as George Russell, Curtis Fuller, Gunther Schuller, and Ernestine Anderson, contemporary Jazz artists Jeff Kashiwa, Jackie Joyner, and Darren Motamedy, as well as stars Steve Allen, Joan Rivers, and Seth MacFarlane. As a studio musician, Frank has performed on over 24 movie scores, commercials, and video games. He recently played several pops concerts with the Seattle Symphony, and can currently be heard live in the Seattle area with several groups, most notably the Full Circle Jazz Ensemble, and the Steely Dan tribute band Nearly Dan. Frank also teaches instrumental music for Seattle Schools.

Garey Williams: Multi-dimensional is a good word to describe the depth of Garey’s musicianship. He has played the drums for over 40 years and has performed with such jazz greats as Diana Krall, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Eddie Daniels, Barney McClure, Howard Roberts and others. Garey has also performed with many local jazz artists and big bands including The Jazz Police, The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Roadside Attraction and recorded with the Jim Cutler Jazz Orchestra and the Full Circle Jazz Ensemble. As an educator, Garey has been teaching over 30 years, has studied with some of the world’s greatest drummers and has amassed countless hours of performing and recording time as both a band leader and sideman. Garey has been reviewed and published in Modern Drummer, Rhythm Magazine, Percussive Notes and numerous regional and local newspapers. Garey endorses and conducts clinics for Ludwig drums, Paiste cymbals, Innovative Percussion sticks, Remo drumheads and Latin Percussion, and is the author of The Hi-Hat Foot and Drummer's Guide to Big Band distributed by Alfred publishing. John ​Harbaugh’s history and experience in the jazz idiom is extensive. He has studied jazz improvisation with Rich Matteson, Ashley Alexander, and David Baker. His professional career includes a US and British Isles tour with Buddy Rich, two years touring the US, Japan, and Europe with Paul Anka, two years touring the US, Canada, and Britain with Tom Jones, as well as working most of the shows in Las Vegas during the mid 1980’s. He has performed in groups backing up artists like, Mel Torme, Gerry Mulligan, Anita ODay, Sammy Davis Jr. Bob Newhart, Woody Herman, Clark Terry, Freddie Hubbard, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, and Lionel Hampton to name only a few. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience when working as a clinician, an adjudicator, and or performer. He is currently a faculty member at Central Washington University teaching applied trumpet, coaching trumpet choir, and directing the second jazz band. He served as a faculty member at various jazz camps for the last 25+ years, a clinician for Conn /Selmer Corporation, and as a member of the advisory committee for the National Trumpet Competition. He recently  released his first jazz CD “Chillaxin with the John Harbaugh Jazz Trio”.

Hailing from Taipei, Taiwan, Jeff Chang started his music career at 14 when he first started playing the alto saxophone. He holds a BA from Cal State Hayward and after taking a year of graduate-level coursework at the Berklee School of Music, obtained his MM at the New England Conservatory and subsequently completed his teaching certification at the Peabody Conservatory. During his time in Boston he was active in the local scene, playing with George Garzone, Hiromi, Walter Smith III and more. Jeff relocated to Washington State, first as Band Director at White Swan High School and presently at Decatur High School since 2012. His students exude professionalism and exceptional musicality, which he builds on by regularly inviting professional musicians in on a regular basis. He also has an active professional career as a saxophonist and regularly performs in the Seattle area and in 2009 completed his debut album, It’s Not What You Think, available on iTunes.

Jeff ​Sizer started performing in Seattle area R&B Bands while still a high school student in 1971.  He experienced four years of road life with Jim Brady and the Sonics and played some “hot and savage swing” in the New Deal Rhythm Band. Venues included Vegas, Lake Tahoe, the Bahamas and the LA Playboy Club. A published composer, Jeff won the National Association of Jazz Educators composition contest in 1981 for his big band chart Samba These Days. His compositions and arrangements have been performed at the NAJE Conference, the International Trombone Convention and at many Jazz Festivals. Jeff has been a music educator for 33 years in public schools and at Shoreline Community College. He continues to be an active performer, having played in the “Seahawks Band” and backing up many artists including Dionne Warwick, Julio Iglesias, The Ojays, Buddy DeFranco and Clark Terry on either trombone or piano. He currently performs with 10-piece funk band, The Depot Street Syncopators, the Columbia Basin Jazz Orchestra, and in the Rock Creek Jazz Quartet.


Marcus​ Wolfe is professional saxophonist and Grammy-nominated educator and is the Director of Jazz Studies at the Valley Christian Conservatory of the Arts in San Jose, California, which has received awards from many prestigious organizations including top honors in the 2013 and 2016 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Competition, invitational performances at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival, Outstanding Instrumental Ensemble at the Reno Jazz Festival in 2013 and 2015, Outstanding Ensemble and Combo at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. He also has served as the Director of Jazz Studies and Director of the Gene Harris Jazz Festival at Boise State University, was a member of the jazz faculty at Triton College in Chicago, and was awarded teaching fellowships at the University of North Texas and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is active as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor for festivals and summer camps throughout North America. He holds a D.M.A in Jazz Studies and Theory/Composition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as well as an M.M. and a B.M. in Jazz Studies and Saxophone from the University of North Texas.

Chris Bruya has been at the forefront of jazz education for over 30 years, currently as Director of Jazz Studies at Central Washington University. His groups have performed at the Montreux, North Sea and the 2008 Next Generation (Monterey) jazz festivals, and at the 2012 JEN Conference in Kentucky, as well as numerous appearances at state and Northwest conferences. In March 2015 the band placed first at the Next Generation Festival, which included a performance at the illustrious Monterey Jazz Festival. In April 2015 jazz organist Barney McClure released his Origin Records CD Show Me! featuring the CWU Jazz Band as the backing ensemble, garnering a 5-star review at Another CD by the band, the 2008 Seabreeze Records release In A Mellow Tone was cited by Jazz Times critic Scott Yanow as “consistently impressive and well worth hearing”. He has shared the stage with some true heavyweights of today, including Dick Oatts, Bobby Shew, Wycliffe Gordon, Terell Stafford, Gary Hobbs, Ingrid Jensen, Nancy King, Dave Pietro, Mike Longo, David Friesen, and more.
