The Office of Multimodal Learning offers faculty the opportunity to earn a Master Online Teacher certification that may be used as evidence of professional development and teaching effectiveness for performance review (subject to Chair and Dean approval).
Faculty who wish to pursue certification will be asked to submit a letter of application outlining their intention to develop or revise an online course, the timeline for development, and a letter of support from their Chair identifying the quarter in which the course will be offered within the next academic year or summer session.
Faculty who are accepted into the program and complete the following requirements for certification will receive a $1,500 stipend:
Faculty Institute for Online Teaching (offered Summer, Pre-Fall, and Online)
Training Workshops (offered regularly in-person and online during academic year)
Faculty Learning Community (4 meetings offered in-person and online each quarter)
Online Course Development
Online Course Review
Stipend payment will be disbursed after all requirements for certification are completed. Certified faculty agree to be included in a pool of Master Online Teachers who may be asked to serve as mentors in their department, as presenters for faculty development meetings/workshops, or participants in online learning assessment and research.
