  • January 28 | 12pm | Centro in the Multicultural Center in Black Hall.  Historian Tatiana Seijas from Rutgers University will discuss her book Asian Slaves in Colonial Mexico: From Chinos to Indios (about the Manilla Galleons and the trade of South, Eastern, and SE Asians into Mexico as slaves). Dr. Sejas will give a lunch presentation in our new Centro in the Multicultural Center in Black Hall. Students are invited to a reception with Dr. Sejas from 1:30 to 2:30 in L&L Lounge 106A. Dr. Seijas will offer a presentation on her book open to the public from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in Samuelson 104.

    Enjoy and evening with Dr. Stella Moreno as she begins the night with poems read in Spanish and then with English translation.  Then, join in a discussion of the nuances of the translation creative process, and participate in some interactive activities centered on poetry and the act of translation.
