Study Abroad and Exchange Programs offers an array of international education options to enhance and globalize your degree at CWU. Students have a wide variety of program opportunities all over the world, including short-term programs directed by CWU faculty, international internships, and summer-, semester- or academic year-long CWU exchanges and third-party sponsored programs. Global Education Scholar Program 

The Office of International Studies and Programs offers students the opportunity to develop and apply cross-cultural competency over the course of Spring Quarter 2022 and earn the Global Education Scholar Digital Badge.

Apply Today and Discover a World of Opportunities

  1. To begin the CWU Education Abroad Application process, go to the login page ( of the online application portal called Horizons.
  2. Under the Student Login section, click the "Click Here To Log In" button. The first time you visit that page, you will be prompted to complete a short pre-experience survey. After that, you will use your CWU username (not email) and password to log in. Each time you visit the portal, you will use the login button and not the option to enter your email and password. 
  3. Once logged in, use the "Search Programs" tab at the top of the page. In the Keywords box, type the name of your program. If it does not appear, type in “self-arranged”. This will take you to the general education abroad application. 
  4. After selecting the correct academic year/semester/quarter from the drop-down menu, you will be prompted to begin the application. You can track your progress in the panel on the left-hand side of the portal.
  5. When you get to the application fee section, you have two options: A.) you can elect to allow us to post the fee to your student account, or B.) pay the fee in Student Accounts and upload a pdf copy of the receipt.
  6. When you get to the Reference Request section, select the "Disciplinary Clearance" option and enter in the email box. Then click “Save".
  7. The final step is to click the "Submit Application" button on the left-hand side of the page.
