In order to create an environment which enhances students' ability to understand and use English, we have established a strict policy which requires that Only English be used in all the ESL and content classes.
We realize that it may be very difficult at times to carry out an activity if students do not understand the instructions or a word. If this happens, students should ask the instructor to explain again in English. Then if they still do not understand, they should request a TIME OUT in order to ask a classmate for a short explanation in Japanese.
