OISP Recognizes our Muslim Students' Ramadan Sacrifices

With Eid approaching, the Office of International Studies and Programs has released a statement recognizing the sacrifices made by our Muslim students over the course of Ramadan:

Dear CWU Community,

The Office of International Studies & Programs would like to celebrate our Muslim community by recognizing the sacrifices made during the observation of Ramadan. The Muslim holy month will end with Eid, a celebration of the end of Ramadan and the month of fasting, which is expected to begin the evening of Wednesday, May 12, 2021 and end the evening of Thursday, May 13, 2021. As we approach the end of Ramadan, we would like to recognize these sacrifices made by of our Muslim students, staff, faculty and community members observing the holy month.

Ramadan is a time of reflection, giving, and the seeking of truth, and in a time when much fear and uncertainty still surrounds us, we stand with those making such sacrifices in the midst of a global pandemic still affecting us all. During Ramadan, there is fasting from dawn until sunset for Muslims observing the holiday. As our office is always working to bring more diversity to campus and into our classrooms, we are thankful for opportunities to learn from different cultures and celebrate all worldwide traditions.

Eid is a time of celebration and feasting in the Muslim community, and we hope that this time of joy will have a positive impact on the CWU community.
