Host a Home Visit

The WorldCat Summer Institute is a short-term summer program for international college students. This year, we are welcoming students from Japan and South Korea!

The Home Visit Program is an integral part of the overall WorldCat Institute. It is designed to give students an opportunity to learn about American culture off campus, by spending time with an American family. The number of hours you sign up to spend with students is flexible (see below), and families can choose the number of students they wish to host.

International students participating in the WorldCat Institute can speak English, as they have been studying English for many years.

WorldCat Institute students want to learn culture and enjoy participating in everyday activities. There is no need to plan special activities to entertain them, simply include them in the things you and your family already do. Examples of things they may find interesting are cooking dinner, playing games, bicycling, hiking, watching videos and just talking.

WorldCat Institute students also look forward to sharing their culture with Americans, and hopefully time spent together will be a rewarding cultural exchange.
There will be a reception when Ellensburg family friends are first introduced to their students in early August. This is not mandatory but is a good way to connect with your students!
