Study Abroad and Exchange Programs hosted the annual Fall Education Abroad Fair on November 15 and 16. This was the first in-person fair since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the fair combined virtual and in-person events.
On November 15, students participated in virtual information sessions with third-party program sponsors. The following day, students interacted with representatives from affiliated partners and CWU faculty directing short-term study abroad programs.
The fair highlighted the myriad of education abroad program options available to students, including CWU exchange and faculty-directed programs, international internships, study abroad, service learning, and volunteer programs, among other opportunities. Programs typically range in length from one week to the academic year and are available year-round. There are options to study on every continent, even Antarctica! Students can study a wide array of topics and critical global issues.
The Office of Financial Aid and Career Services also facilitated information sessions about funding education abroad opportunities and navigating international internships. Additionally, Study Abroad and Exchange Programs hosted information sessions on the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families, and the Boren Awards.
The fair was well attended. Students left the event with a better understanding of different education abroad options and ways to fund their participation. Students learned that an education abroad can be affordable and not only benefits their current studies but is advantageous when entering an increasingly diverse and global workforce.
