College in the High School- Research Presentation at National Conference

The CWU High School Partnerships office, which directs the College in the High School program, recently sent staff and faculty to the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) conference in Salt Lake City. Kyle Carrigan, director of Concurrent Enrollment, and Dr. Peter Klosterman, assistant professor, mathematics, presented research on concurrent enrollment mathematics classrooms—including CWU College in the High School classes where university math was taught—their learning environment, and how the university is using the research to enhance the College in the High School program.

The research was led by Dr. Steve Stein, CWU senior lecturer, mathematics, assisted by Klosterman, Richard Trudgeon, senior lecturer, mathematics; and David Welz, program support supervisor.

The research will also help the College in the High School program in its NACEP accreditation process. CWU’s College in the High School offers eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors the chance to earn college credit and start an official university transcript while simultaneously fulfilling graduation requirements at their respective high schools.
