High School Partnerships at CWU

Central Washington University is proud to be partners with high schools across the state of Washington, offering CWU classes through Running Start and College in the High School.

These dual-credit options enable high school students to earn college credit and start an official university transcript all while also fulfilling their high school graduation requirements.

CWU College in the High School

CWU College in the High School is a way for high school students in grades 9 -12 to take CWU classes and stay at their high school. Highly qualified teachers around the state are endorsed by CWU to provide rigorous, approved college-level courses. These classes are either self-paid (Cornerstone) or through the state college in the high school subsidy.

CWU Running Start

Running Start allows eligible high school juniors and seniors to enroll and attend tuition-free college courses at Central Washington University. Running Start is available at both the Ellensburg campus and the Sammamish campus. Students may attend on-campus or online during the fall, winter, and spring quarters.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the CWU High School Partnerships office is to provide high school students with rigorous and rewarding low-cost, dual credit opportunities that will allow students to graduate from high school and earn college credit at the same time, overcome barriers to participating in higher education, and get an early start on their long term academic and career goals.

Vision Statement:

The vision of the CWU High School Partnerships office is to be a statewide leader in providing affordable, rigorous, and inclusive dual credit opportunities to every high school student in Washington State.
