Welcome to CWU!Campus Aerial Shot

On behalf of CWU’s Department of Human Resources, welcome to Central! As a new employee, you bring your own set of unique qualities to CWU. We are happy you are here and look forward to helping you learn and experience what it means to be a Wildcat! To help make your new employment experience the best it can be, we have developed this “New Employee Toolkit,” which will guide you through the three phases of the Onboarding process: Your First Week, Your First Month, and Ongoing Onboarding.

This New Employee Toolkit is just one part of your Onboarding experience. You should also have the helpful information you received at your New Employee Welcome session, much of which you will find reinforced in this New Employee Toolkit. And finally you can count on your ambassador and supervisor to help you in the days and months to come.

Your First Week - What to Expect

  • By now, you have met your Ambassador and attended a New Employee Welcome session where you learned about the CWU culture, health and retirement benefits, what it means to be a Wildcat, other perks of working at CWU, and more. You have likely completed part 2 of your I-9 verification, picked up your Connection Card and keys, and perhaps purchased a CWU parking permit. Other things you need to focus on during your first week of work at CWU include beginning to report hours worked/absences and beginning to gather dependent verification documents (if needed).

Your First Month - What to Expect

  • Make decisions about your benefits, complete required training, explore systems learning opportunities, review payroll information and University policies, and get to know the services offered through Service Desk.

Ongoing Onboarding - What to Expect

  • Review how to stay informed; explore wellness facilities and programs, your world of extra benefits, and development opportunities; learn about performance management, safety at CWU, and the Wildcat Way; dive into the Administrative Professional Toolkit and the Traditions Keepers program; use your Wildcat Shop discount coupon; educate yourself by reading HR FAQ’s and other resources to help you interact with your community and keep you moving forward.
