Student Researches Gold Dredging and Lamprey

Jaime Liljegren, a graduate student in the Cultural & Environmental Management Resource Management program whose advisor is geographer Prof. Anthony Gabriel, gave a public lecture on October 4th about her research on the impact of gold mining on lamprey. Jaime’s talk to the Audubon Society was titled, “Impact Assessment of suction dredge mining to Pacific lamprey in Washington State: A case study of the Entiat River”, and provided an introduction to the Pacific lamprey and its vulnerability to suction dredge gold-mining in Washington State. Jaime’s research was partly supported with funding from Audubon.
