Heidi Gustafson Schwab Memorial Scholarship Established at CWU

The Central Washington University Foundation is grateful to have received a gift to create an endowed scholarship fund in memory of Heidi Gustafson Schwab.

Heidi was born in Vancouver, Washington and spent her childhood traveling the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, and Inland Waters of Vancouver Island on a sailboat with her family. After high school, she attended CWU where she earned a degree in administrative management in 1989.

“Her pride and joy during her college years was her vintage 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Sport Coupe, as blue as her eyes,” said her husband, Charles Schwab.

Charles and Heidi got married in 2006 and enjoyed spending their time taking day trips, socializing, photography, and eating at unique restaurants together.

In 2018, Heidi lost her battle with cancer and was buried at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Ellensburg, overlooking campus, as “her true love was her college years at Central and living in Ellensburg.”

The Heidi Gustafson Schwab Memorial Scholarship will support full-time CWU students who have a declared major in administrative management and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Heidi always had a passion for helping other people, and through her generous bequest and this scholarship, she will continue to help those who wish to pursue a career in administrative management, which she loved so much.

If you are interested in creating a scholarship, please call the CWU Foundation at 509-963-2160, or give to support existing scholarships at cwu.edu/give.
