Field Experience (EFC 330)

Field Experience is a course in the Professional Education Program, which will be offered quarterly. Our application is now online and can be found in the Application Process section of this page. Applications are due by dates shown on the deadline information link on the right side of this page. When you submit your application, it will be immediately sent to the Office of Field Experience for clearance. In addition to the application, students must also have fingerprint clearance by that date to be offered a placement and to enroll in the course. Students do not seek their own placements.


Psych 314 AND either EFC 210 and EFC 310 (or approved Community College course substitution) or EFC 250. This course is a co-requisite or pre-requisite for EFC 340.

Upon submission of the application, the Teacher Certification Program will review your application for clearance. Any certification-related questions shoudl be directed to After clearance, the Office of Field Experience will provide you information to register you for the course. If they are unable to enroll you in the course, you will receive an email in your CWU email.  Be sure and check your CWU email often for important updates and review our registration tutorial for instructions.

If you take the course during the Pre-Fall time period before CWU classes begin in the Fall, the credits will be on your Fall quarter credit load.

Financial aid will be charged for Field Experience tuition. If you do not receive financial aid, tuition is due on the same date as regular tuition for the quarter. It is charged at the per-credit rate for the quarter in which you enroll.

Department Standards

All students completing an educational endorsement must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher for the last 45 graded credits. Students must also earn (prior to student teaching) a minimum grade of "C" in all courses required for certification.

Admission Requirements

Students must have been fully admitted to the Teacher Certification Program and have valid fingerprints. Please contact the Certification Office in Black Hall 228 for information about the admission requirements and fingerprinting. Students are assigned in off-campus schools for approximately sixty (60 hours) with a schedule to be arranged by the Field Supervisor, Cooperating Teacher and the student. Credits: (2)

Field Experience (EFC 330) is a laboratory experience course in the Professional Education Program. The course deals with the structure and management of the classroom and school, professional relationships, school/community relationships, school district organization, instructional support, and resource services.
