Service at CWU
Faculty service contributes academic and professional expertise and effort to the university community, to professional communities of scholars, and to the citizenry. As a faculty member you can use your expertise and passion to positively impact your working environment and the regional and national landscape in your field.
These pages provide a one-stop shop for faculty service resources at Central Washington University. Service Resources provides policy and professional development resources. Service Support Systems gives information on the management systems and software used at CWU to support service. Service Forms has links to forms related to service including sabbatical application, grant writing forms, and travel forms.
Service Workload: A typical faculty workload will have around 7% (3 wlu) dedicated to service. Article 15.3.3 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the United Faculty of Central and CWU defines three types of service: public service, university service, and professional service. Appendix A of the Collective Bargaining Agreement provides guidelines for determining workload units for service.
Reappointment, Tenure, Promotion, and Post-Tenure Review: Faculty are expected to serve the university, the public and their profession according to University, college, and department criteria. University and college criteria can be found on the Provost’s website under Faculty Resources.
Please contact the Associate Vice Provost if something you need is missing so it can be added.
