I’m Roy Betz I graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science with a specialization in Chemistry. I am an Environmental Scientist for Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest (NAVFAC NW). My work focuses on the navy being in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. The great thing about my job is that if there is any other field that I am interested in I can tag along and help with other projects. Some of the various fields we have include: storm water, wastewater, pollution prevention, and air emissions.
The Environmental Studies Program at CWU is great because you get a feel for how much of a variety there is in environmental subjects. The classes I took opened my eyes on how multifaceted environmental issues are and how they are all connected. All of the professors I had were incredibly friendly and great at getting their points across to the class. I wholeheartedly recommend that even if you are slightly interested in the environment then consider taking a few classes to get a better understanding of the world around us.
