Environmental Studies Program

College of the Sciences

Nina King-Gibson

I graduated in June 2017 with my BS in Environmental Science with a specialization in  Chemistry. I also minored in math and chemistry. I currently work as an Environmental  Specialist for the Washington State Department of Agriculture Dairy Nutrient Management  Programas the Eastern Region Inspector. I inspect over 100 dairies and CAFO permitted  facilities all over eastern Washington to ensure they are in compliance with state and federal water quality standards.

I very much feel like my education at CWU prepared me for my career in water quality, as I  focused the majority of my undergraduate research projects on the effects of our modern  agricultural system on water quality and environmental policy. I also worked in a  wastewater lab for a beef processing facility during my final year of college which I feel really gave me relevant experience prior to graduating. Over all, I was able to obtain my dream position in environmental science just one year after graduating and I couldn't be more thankful for the  ways my education at CWU paid off for me.
