Why did you choose IEM?
I chose IEM after taking an Energy and Society class that opened my eyes to the dynamic dependence our culture and many other cultures have on the consumption of energy in all its different forms. After the class was over I felt like I needed to know more about the, behind the scenes, energy consumption used in our daily lives and the best way to do it was by majoring in Energy Management.
Shaping the future:
After graduating I got a job as a logistics coordinator at a petroleum sales company. While working here my team and I coordinate the sales and transportation of roughly 4 million gallons of petroleum products a week, to customers, large businesses, gas stations and school districts. Here I have also learned about how fuel is sold on the west coast. Meaning, where the refinery’s are, how the petroleum distribution chain works and daily, weekly, and monthly pricing and allocation issues that are impacted by sales, natural disasters, accidents, as well as socially and absolute scarcity of product.
While at CWU I was involved with the climbing team, where we traveled to 12 different colleges throughout the Pacific Northwest and competed against all the climbers from the other colleges.
